Began his career and training aged 16 at Juan Mari Arzak’s restaurant, where he spent almost 3 years learning the secrets of the trade. Based on the experience, he continued to study at Luis Irizar’s cooking school before setting out on a pilgrimage round some of the best kitchens in Gipuzkoa: Martín Berasategi, the Mugaritz of Andoni Luis Aduriz and the Arbelaitz all saw him learn at their stoves.
At the age of 26, Iñigo Peña launched his own project, the Narru Restaurant, demonstrating his philosophy and knowhow in the dishes and creations he produces. It wasn’t long before professional acknowledgements started rolling in.
2009: · Cocinero Revelación award finalist at the Madrid Fusión gastrofest. · Premio Más Gastronomía” Award from the El Diario Vasco daily for Best Young Chef in Gipuzkoa
2010: · The Wall Street Journal listed him among Europe’s top 10 young chefs.
2013 : · Year’s Best Restaurant in the El Diario Vasco’s “Más Gastronomía” Awards.
